POSITION SUMMARY:

The Nutrition Services Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring Head Start children are properly nourished in the classroom for successful learning. As the Nutrition Services Coordinator, you will:

Serve as the nutrition services content area expert, and is a resource providing related expertise to the Health and Nutrition Services Area.
Direct the delivery of quality food and nutrition services program-wide in order to meet the nutritional needs of enrolled children including those with special dietary needs and ensures compliance with Head Start Performance Standards as well as state and county standards.
Maintain awareness of changing Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations.
Develop and implements nutrition services training for teachers, cooks and assistant cooks and provides ongoing support to center staff.
Observe and evaluates the implementation of point of service meal counts, portion sizes during meal service, and hygiene and sanitation in the classroom as it relates to food service.
Call attention to non-compliance areas and participates in developing plans for changes with food service and classroom staff.
Support the health services aspects of the service area and the agency's school readiness plan.
Functionally supervise cooks and assistant cooks.

Position is 233 working days and 13 paid Holidays; a typical work week Monday - Friday with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week.

Salary estimate: $50,000

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Production Management or related field. A Registered or Certified Dietitian is preferred.
Must have two years experience working with the delivery of nutrition services. Prior work experience with Head Start & CACFP is desirable.
Three years relevant supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education with demonstrated ability to organize, direct and coordinate operations in personnel supervision, communications, and budget management.
ServSafe Certification or the ability to gain certification within 60 days of employment.
